April 3, 2026 - Fly to Millville, NJ for Breakfast

Spring is finally here!  It's warm some days and still cold on others.  But the trees are blossoming.

A never before seen sight over Essex Skypark.  Two Osprey's fly overhead in formation!

This Saturday brought perfect flying weather.  A bunch of us from Essex Skypark headed over to Millville Airport in New Jersey for breakfast.

Nhu-An flying her 172 across the Delaware Bay.

Approaching the nuclear power plant on the Jersey side.

From another angle.

Passing by the abandoned Iskra Polish jet trainer.  I first saw it in January 2020.   It was all shiny aluminum, then, and had been for sale since August 2018.  By 2021 it was starting to show some rust.  Now it is completely covered in a copper-like sheen.

I was the first to arrive.

Nhu-An and Russell pulled in shortly thereafter.

And then there were four.  Charlie flew the Decathelon and Isaac the RV-6.  Ultimately we would have six aircraft and eight people.

And then there were six.  Chuck's Comanche is behind the RV-6.  Al is at left, but his Tri-Pacer is nt visible.

We were lucky.  Verna's Flight Line Restaurant was relatively full but the big round table was open and the eight of us sat down right away.

Clockwise from left:  Nhu-An, Me, Al, Russell, Isaac, Charlie, Jena, Chuck.

Al departing Verna's.  All of us were very satisifed with our breakfasts.

An RV-10 -- at left -- pulled up after we were inside Verna's.

Of course we checked out the RV-10.  Outstanding workmanship as most RV-10 build's are.

Flying low over the New Jersey swamp after leaving Millville.

I climbed up to cross the Delaware Bay and buy coincidence there was Nhu-An's 172.

Russell took this shot of me on the trip home.

As you can see, I don't have my gear fairings or wheel pants on.  Actually, this was a mistake.  While breaking in the engine, the extra speed from the gear fairings and wheel pants would have been helpful for engine cooling.  After this flight, I put them on.

Some kind of big gathering on the Eastern Shore.

Looking down at the new Club House under construction at the Rocky Point Golf Course.

A familiar sight with Essex Skypark in the middle.
